Tour Itinerary in Detail

Day 1
United Kingdom → Lima International Airport

● Fly from the UK to Lima Peru for your 10 night hotel stay

Day 2
Lima

● After Breakfast, City Tour of Lima before being dropped at your Hotel and afternoon a Leisure

Day 3
Lima | Cusco | Sacred Valley

You will be met at the lobby of the hotel and assisted for your next domestic flight to Cusco. 

● Upon arrival in Cusco, you will be met and transferred to your hotel in the Sacred Valley. On the way you stop at Chinchero to join a local weaving family in their courtyard for an overview of the Andean weaving process. Chinchero is renowned for the production of textiles done on backstrap looms. You watch as wool is carded, spun, and dyed and learn about the different techniques used to create belts, ponchos and shawls. 

● During a weaving demonstration at the Andean community of Misminay your hostess will teach you the techniques used since many centuries ago by their ancestors. The preparation process includes the gathering of wool, and its spinning, plying and dyeing. 

● Continue your way to your hotel in the Sacred Valley, rest of the afternoon free at leisure.

Day 4
Sacred Valley | Machu Picchu | Cusco

● At proper time, you will be transferred to Ollanta rail station. The vistadome train ride takes you through the Sacred Valley of the Incas up to Machu Picchu.

● Upon arrival, a small coach takes you up the steep roads to the entrance of the citadel. For centuries Machu Picchu remained undiscovered by the Spaniards and has only been found in 1911 by the American explorer Hiram Bingham. During a guided tour you will experience the uniqueness of the location and the genius that went into its construction, making this Inca site one of the seven new wonders of the world. 

● Return by Vistadome train from Aguas Calientes to Ollanta. Upon arrival in Ollanta, you will be transferred to the hotel in Cusco (2 hours ride approximately)

Day 5
Cusco

● In the morning, your comprehensive city tour includes the beautiful Koricancha or Sun Temple, the Cathedral as well as the Fortress of Sacsayhuaman, a most remarkable Inca building, the amphitheater of Kenko. This is followed by a visit to Puca Pucara, a strategically located ‘red fortress’ that dominates the entire area before visiting Tambomachay, with its two distinctive aqueducts that to this day continue to provide clean water to the area.

● Rest of the afternoon free at leisure.

Day 6
Cusco | Puno

● A ten-hour road trip takes you through picturesque Andean landscapes dotted by small villages and herds of llamas and vicunas to your final destination Puno. 

● You visit the famous church of Andahuaylillas, built in the 17th century by the Jesuits. Due to its wall and ceiling frescoes, it is also known as the ‘Sistine Chapel of the Andes’. Then you stop at Raqchi to visit the Viracocha Temple. This was the only Inca temple where clay was used in addition to stone as building material. The most impressive features are the cylindrical columns covered by fine clay layers. From the La Raya pass (4,335 m/ 14,172 ft) you enjoy a panoramic view of the snow-capped Andes.

Day 7
Puno

● Your excursion by speed boat starts with a visit to one of the floating reed islands of the Uros before heading to island of weavers Taquile. Unlike in the classic tour, this option offers a reduced time en route (e.g. 75 min from Taquile to Puno versus 2 hrs 30 min aboard the traditional boat) making your experience in the lake more pleasant. Your boat tour includes a meal prepared with local fish and fresh produce from the Andes. (excursion by boat together with other travelers but with private guide on board)

Day 8
Puno | Juliaca | Lima

● At the proper time, you will be met at the lobby hotel and transferred to Juliaca’s airport. En route short visit of the burial towers in Sillustani. The engineering involved in their construction challenge the low of gravity; the diameter at the top is larger than the diameter at the base. Sillustani is partially encircled by Umayo Lake, offering us a beautiful landscape. We then join a local family from Sillustani in their courtyard to learn more about their lifestyle, Andean crops and traditions.

● Upon arrival in Lima, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the remaining day is free for leisure to explore the city.

Day 9
Lima | Santiago 

● At proper time, you will be transferred to the airport for your international flight to our next destination, Santiago de Chile. Welcome to Chile! Upon arrival in Santiago, you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Day 10
Santiago

● This morning, you will enjoy a city tour through Santiago. You will take the modern cable car up the San Cristobal hill while enjoying the stunning views of the city and of the green recreational area below. After a 10-minute ride, you will reach the top of San Cristobal hill where you will be met with spectacular panoramic views over Santiago cityscape and the breathtaking Andes mountain range in the distance. On clear days you will get a great sense of the sheer magnitude of this metropolis. Take a look at the iconic landmark statue of the Virgin Mother Mary watching over the city before descending the hill with the cable car. Then you will be driven to the historic part of Santiago for a short walking tour, which takes you to ‘La Moneda’ – the seat of the president of Chile, the former national congress, the 18th-century cathedral and the main square with its colonial buildings.

Day 11
Santiago 

● You will be met and transferred to Santiago Airport for your overnight flight back to the UK
